FROM PAPER OR MICROFILM TO DIGITAL

Previously, conversion and digitisation of historical and archival content had not been possible and even with technological advances, the results were unreliable and often prohibitively expensive. Poor readability of texts due to poor image quality, large image files and copying problems prevented accurate searching and delivered unsatisfactory reading experiences online and on different devices.

However, X-CAGO's digitisation services benefit from deep experience, investment in research and development and the latest digitisation and scanning technologies that both preserve the original image and enhance the reproduction of the content for optimal digital viewing. Printed media from microfilm or paper is carefully scanned using the most advanced scanners on the market and converted by X-CAGO's unique, patented digital content capture technology. This produces the best, fully searchable results at the lowest cost.

FROM PDF TO DIGITAL

X-CAGO can also digitise old, printed content of an archive from PDF files.

CONVERSION TO A DIGITAL ARCHIVE

X-CAGO's unique and patented ‘ClipWorX’ software automatically creates a digital archive by distilling the content and creating XML files for each individual content piece whether from a page, article or photo. The first of its kind, this page segmentation software ‘understands’ the structure of a publication, including the continuation of content across multiple pages.

For accurate conversion, ‘ClipWorx’ can break down each page into its constituent parts including individual articles, images, advertisements, author and by-lines if applicable. Deeper conversion through ‘ClipWorX’ enables digitisation of other content items including puzzles, Sudoku, crosswords and recipes.

FULLY SEARCHABLE AND ACCESSIBLE VIA THE INTERNET

By implementing X-CAGO's ‘Archive ExPress™’, a publisher's customers can find and read articles exactly as they appeared in the original publication. Deteriorated image or poor readability is no longer an issue: the digitally captured information does not change over time, no matter how many people access it. Since the archive is accessed online, it is available anytime, anywhere. Time and place are no longer an obstacle to accessing the archive's content - free of charge or for a fee at the publisher or content owners’ discretion.

X-CAGO has unrivalled expertise and technologies for accessing archived content in a secure Enterprise Content Management Platform, (ECM Platform). 'Please refer to the separate section titled 'Archive ExPress’.

OTHER DIGITISATION OF CONTENT

X-CAGO's digitisation services and technologies also extend to the digital conversion of photographic collections, including negatives and slides. In addition, X-CAGO is able to digitise audio and video archives. If desired, the text of this collection can be transcribed using Speech-to-Text technology in order to subsequently perform a full-text search.

X-CAGO can also offer fast and cost-effective Podcast conversion services recognising the proliferation or podcast content, and their monitoring by media monitoring organisations.

Here, too, speech-to-text technology is deployed to achieve an excellent end result automatically. Optionally, X-CAGO offers further editing services to obtain an absolutely error-free transcription.
