CONTENT TRANSLATION

X-CAGO can provide fast and reliable automated content translations in no less than 30 languages. New languages are being added regularly.

X-CAGO's translation service readily makes it possible to translate content from one language to another including from newspapers, magazines and other journals articles as well as articles on the web. Wherever applicable, the consent of the content's rights holder is sought.

The integrity of the process is paramount. Therefore, in addition to the original text, X-CAGO also displays the translated text and/or makes it available for indexing. A disclaimer is usually displayed to accompany the translated text. This effectively advises the reader that although the quality of the automatically translated text is of a high calibre, it cannot be considered 100% error-free without a manual check.

The X-CAGO content translation service is used by clients for a number of applications, including but not limited to the following examples:

  1. The capacity to read content in one ‘s native / spoken language, but with reference to the original text;

  2. By media monitoring organisations (MMO‘s). Often the content search profiles for a MMO‘s client is defined in one language. If, however there is content in the database in several languages through content translation, better search results can be achieved along with increased yield for the MMO;

  3. By publishers who want to extend their reach and readability by offering content in multiple languages. There are many practical examples where web or print content is translated into several languages and offered on websites which also serves to improve search engine optimisation (SEO). As an example, the number of people who speak Dutch is proportionately very limited. Offering content in English, Spanish and German increases the reach substantially. Introducing and discussing content translation with the rights holder of the content can be a most worthwhile conversation.

X-CAGO can process multiple sources, including:

  • Web content;

  • Printed content;

  • News Industry Text Format (NITF) XML feeds.

The output of the translated content can be processed in different formats, including:

  • X-CAGO's SuperSet format;

  • PMG XML format;

  • NITF.
